From our head office in Switzerland, together with our multi-cultural team of experts located throughout Europe, Sherman Engineering provides Safety, Health, Environmental & Risk Management services to enterprises throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Who Are We?
The SHERMAN Engineering team, with over 500 qualified professionals in their strategic alliance network, has technical representation available to assist you throughout Europe, the Middle East & Africa.
Dr. Marisol Redondo
Our Managing Director has over 20 years of applied technical and management experience from work she performed in Germany, UK, Spain, France, Switzerland and other European countries.
Her professional development began in technical risk analysis, to leading the development of an environmental impairment insurance product and the criteria for evaluation of environmental risks.
Her experience also extends to evaluation of property, liability and environmental risks at multinational corporations and provision of risk improvement advice with proven results.
She has also supported Insurance company Claims and Underwriting departments with loss investigations, provides excellent training and has taught in universities regarding risk analysis methodology.

Dr. Amaia Beloqui
Amaia earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the renowned ETH university in Zürich, Switzerland. She also holds the Swiss SUVA certification as a Safety Professional. She has several years of experience supporting European sites of multi-national corporations, with proven results in implementation of HSE programs and improving corporate audit scores as well as maintaining ISO certifications.

John McAllister
John is a chartered member of the UK’s Institute of Occupational Safety and a Registered Safety practitioner. He leads the UK Operations and his work history includes extensive experience as a Safety Engineer in the UK coal mining industry, as an HSE manager in the FMCG industry, and a global HSE leader in the Automotive industry.
John employs a practical and realistic hands-on approach to workplace safety issues, with experience taking sites through the certification processes for ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, the British Safety Council’s 5-star safety award and Sword of Honour.
David da Silva
David da Silva is responsible for our Southern European operations and has years of experience performing risk assessments and evaluating machinery safety. David leads the preparation and final approval of all technical drawings for the group and has experience with the latest in 3-D printing, drawing and automation. He holds the NEBOSH certification and speaks 4 languages.
Joost Vrielink
Joost supports our customers primarily in the area of Electrical Safety and Arc Flash studies of their electrical installations. However, his expertise is definitely not limited to his primary field of electrical engineering. He also provides support to our clients who do not have an HSE Leader due to difficulty in finding the right candidate for an open position or due to long-term absence for any number of reasons.
Joost’s prior experience in risk assessment, incident investigation and auditing HSE Management Systems gives him the expertise our clients require to keep their management system in line with their corporate and legal requirements. Joost speaks 5 languages and leads the South American operations.
Luana Pimenta
Luana provides a wide variety of technical support to the home office team and to field staff, including risk assessment documentation, document control and records management tasks. She has excellent organisational skills and speaks 5 languages fluently. She has a friendly team-oriented character and understands the meaning of doing a job well for her internal as well as external customers….the first time every time.
Frantisek Dobes
Frantisek Dobes is a professional risk engineer and leads our Eastern European operations. He has over 20 years experience performing Property and Business Interruption assessments and is an expert in machinery safety. His years of experience are further enhanced by his corporate audit program experience in all elements of safety, environment, occupational exposure and more.
Frantisek is one of our founding members and provides advice to the entire group on a variety of technical subjects. He is highly respected by his colleagues and our clients for his extensive experience and knowledge.
Edward Sherman
Edward Sherman has over 25 years of applied technical and management experience from work he performed in the US, South Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the UK and throughout mainland Europe. Edward speaks 5 languages.
His professional development began in manufacturing operations in the US, managing Health, Safety and Environmental tasks for a Swiss multi-national manufacturer, followed by work in Europe with a multi-national insurer to develop an environmental impairment insurance product and the criteria for evaluation of environmental risks. He spent several years in southern Europe managing a team of risk engineers and environmental underwriting and claims specialists and his experience also extends to evaluation of property and business interruption, liability and environmental risks at multinational corporations and provision of risk improvement advice with proven results. He later worked as the Global Risk Engineering Director for one of the top three global Aerospace and Rolling Stock manufacturers, managing property and BI risk as well as the risk management of Public Private Partnership projects to design, build and operate turnkey public transportation systems throughout Europe, Asia and South Africa.
His earlier post-graduate education at the Harvard University College of Public Health also supports one of his additional strengths in the evaluation of ergonomic exposures in industrial and office environments and the development of practical solutions to reduce ergonomic risk.

Otto van Ruiten
At Sherman Engineering, Otto is the Occupational Hygiene Practice Leader, responsible for all industrial/occupational hygiene consulting and training. His consultancy focuses on the technical and organizational assessment of workplaces, work methods, manufacturing processes and related operating procedures. He is specialized and well-versed in all aspects of occupational hygiene air sampling, monitoring and measurement, as well as the evaluation and reporting of the assessment results. Otto is a Dutch national but has been living in Switzerland for over 20 years. He speaks 4 languages.
Edward Sherman and Dr. Marisol Redondo are the founding members and the Leadership Team at SHERMAN Engineering. Together they have over 50 years of applied technical and management experience from work they performed in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
